Hobby CNC routers offer the hobbyist, whether woodworking or model making, a great piece of equipment with extensive technology for a very affordable price. Usually, hobby CNC routers are small and are desktop/tabletop apparatuses. They are very portable and come in a large variety of different sizes.
Hobby routers can be very little machines that sit on top of the counter or other hobby routers can be a little larger and have their own tables and set up that sits out in the middle of the shop floor. The size of the hobby CNC router that you need will depend upon what type of work you are planning on doing with the machine. Next are the DIY CNC router kits. These kits are great if you are not for sure what parts you will need, etc. These kits include everything that you need from the instructions to the brackets to even the motor. They may cost you a little bit more than just buying the parts individually and building it yourself. If you cannot weld, don’t worry. Sometimes you can purchase bolt together kits.
Finally, purchasing one that is already ready to go may be more expensive, but it can save you a lot of time and headache in the long run. Plan on spending a couple of thousand at least for the better brands of the hobby CNC routers. Contact your local dealer and then do some comparison shopping with other brands and on the internet. You may be able to find a more affordable machine that will still allow you to do what you need it to.
